Aaron Hernandez Commits Suicide While Serving Life Sentence In Prison.

Former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez was discovered hanged in his cell early this morning, officials say.

Hernandez, who was found not guilty last week in a Boston double murder, was administered lifesaving techniques after being discovered at approximately 3 a.m. Wednesday in his single cell at the Souza Baranowski Correctional Center in Shirley.

In a statement from the Massachusetts Department of Corrections: “Mr. Hernandez was in a single cell in a general population unit. Mr. Hernandez hanged himself utilizing a bedsheet that he attached to his cell window. Mr. Hernandez also attempted to block his door from the inside by jamming the door with various items.”

Hernandez’s family has been notified and police are investigating.

Hernandez was serving life in prison after being convicted of murder of Odin Lloyd in 2015 in the North Attleboro Industrial Park, within a mile of Hernandez’s home in Westwood Estates.
