Eurovision Song Contest 2017: Katrina returns to Eurovision as spokesperson

The First Semi final for the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest has started.

It’s been 20 years since the UK last secured a Eurovision Song Contest victory – with the win provided by Katrina And The Waves.

Now, lead singer Katrina Leskanich will be bringing the good luck vibes to Lucie Jones on Saturday as she returns to read out the UK’s votes for this year’s contest in Kiev.

Katrina, who triumphed with hit song Love Shine A Light, said: ‘I am honoured and delighted to be invited to be the spokesperson for the UK at Eurovision this year. It makes it extra special as this year is the 20th anniversary of my win in 1997.’

The 62nd Eurovision Song Content Grand Final takes place on Saturday night and will see former X Factor finalist Lucie Jones flying the flag for the UK with the song Never Give Up On You.

We’re hoping that she finally breaks that 20 year curse, but she’ll have to fend off tough competition from Portugal and Italy if she is to emerge triumphant.
